Industry leaders gather at GlobalNet’s Yangon facility to examine multi-cloud architectures, cyber threat intelligence, and next-generation localized AI transformation in Myanmar.
YANGON, Myanmar (September 04, 2026) — GlobalNet, a premier telecommunications and digital infrastructure provider under Global Technology Group (GTG), hosted the August edition of the American Chamber of Commerce (AMCHAM) Myanmar Tech Table Series at its Yangon headquarters on August 31, 2026. The executive session convened ICT leaders and enterprise representatives to address critical developments in Myanmar’s digital landscape, focusing on internet infrastructure, cybersecurity, multi-cloud strategy, and sovereign Artificial Intelligence (AI).
The session highlighted GlobalNet’s two-decade evolution into a comprehensive digital backbone capable of supporting Myanmar’s 39.8 million internet users. Beyond scaling connectivity, the presentations emphasized real-world network resilience and threat mitigation. GlobalNet detailed its rapid 24-hour disaster recovery response during the 7.7 magnitude Mandalay earthquake in March 2025, as well as its strategic rerouting during the UMO submarine cable cut in November 2025. Following the presentations, participants engaged in an exclusive tour of GlobalNet’s Experience Center, Tier III Data Center, and 24/7 Network Operations Center (NOC) for a first-hand look at these mission-critical operations.
“AI is only as strong as the digital foundation underneath it,” said Mr. Shane Thu Aung, Co-Founder & Chairman of Global Technology Group. “Over the past 24 years, GlobalNet has built the energy, connectivity, and data center layers required for mission-critical operations. Today, through the AI Myanmar initiative and strategic partnerships with global technology leaders like IBM, Dell, Broadcom, AWS, and Google Cloud, we are enabling local enterprises to leverage sovereign cloud compliance and native Burmese language AI models with high precision, security, and governance.”
“The future of Myanmar’s digital economy will not depend only on how much bandwidth we have, but on how resilient, secure, and intelligently interconnected that bandwidth is,” added Phyo Maung Maung Kyaw, Deputy Chief Engineer and Core Network Team Lead at GlobalNet. “For a connected business today, a cyber incident can quickly become a business incident. Connectivity alone is not enough; businesses need a partner who can respond, coordinate, and support recovery during critical disruptions.”
