Following the catastrophic 7.7 magnitude earthquake that impacted Mandalay and Naypyidaw, GlobalNet, Myanmar’s premier next-generation network and cloud infrastructure provider, confirmed the uninterrupted performance of its nationwide fiber backbone and critical infrastructure.
Despite widespread damage to conventional telecom systems and data facilities across the country, GlobalNet’s core network, including its resilient backbone fiber and redundant routing systems, remained fully operational—ensuring continuous services for:

• Banks and financial institutions, including Myanmar’s Central Bank systems

• National Mobile Operator Networks

• Strategic government infrastructure and Ministries in Naypyidaw

• National Resource Departments & Public utilities

• GlobalNet Cloud Data, which reported Zero Downtime

Built to Withstand Catastrophe

“Our infrastructure is built on layers of defense—physical, digital, and procedural,” said Thit Sane,

“Redundant fiber paths, earthquake-resistant node design, smart rerouting, and real-time monitoring enabled us to absorb the shock with minimal disruption. This is not just a telecom win—it’s a national digital resilience milestone.”
While other providers experienced severe cable cuts, data loss, or extended outages due to collapsed buildings and power grid failures, GlobalNet’s dual-path fiber backbone and multi-zone national reach allowed mission-critical data to flow seamlessly between Naypyidaw, Yangon, Mandalay, and regional hubs.
